Preferred EHR Vendors Announced for Small Physician Practices
The Iowa Foundation for Medical Care (IFMC), Iowa's Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (HITREC), has named six ambulatory Electronic Health Record vendors to its Iowa Preferred Vendor List. The list includes the products most likely to help Iowa's smaller primary care practices achieve meaningful use of certified EHRs.
The following six vendors were selected:
· Allscripts
· eClinicalWorks
· EHS, Inc.
· eMDs
· Greenway Medical Technologies
· McKesson
The IFMC HITREC will help at least 1,200 Iowa physicians, physician's assistants and nurse practitioners adopt and meaningfully use certified EHR technology over the next two years. The focus of this heavily subsidized federal grant program is to provide technical assistance on EHR selection and use to practices of 10 or fewer providers.
The Preferred Vendor List resulted from an extensive evaluation conducted by IFMC HITREC. The evaluation committee included practicing Iowa clinicians and office managers, as well as health informatics and EHR specialists. The list will be reviewed and updated annually.
