Meaningful Use final rule sent to OMB
Jul 12, 2010
The Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) has sent the final rule for the meaningful use component of the EHR incentive program to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This is expected to be the last step before the rule is publically released, and OMB should complete its review soon. Created as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the incentive program permits eligible clinicians who are “meaningful users” of “certified” EHRs to receive up to $44,000 under Medicare or up to $63,750 under Medicaid. The final rule is expected to outline the meaningful use criteria required for program participation.
