Dr. Berwick nominated as CMS administrator
Earlier this week the Obama administration formally nominated Donald Berwick, MD as administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Dr. Berwick is a pediatrician who is president and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. MGMA applauds the nomination of Dr. Berwick.

Jessee, MD, FACMPE, MGMA president and CEO. “His knowledge of quality improvement offers great opportunities for improving the efficiency of CMS’ internal operations – a critical factor in reducing administrative costs. We look forward to continuing and broadening our partnership with CMS as Dr. Berwick moves into this new role.”
Dr. Berwick must first be confirmed by the full Senate.
