State False Claims Act is Filed

An old issue reappeared as part of a 209 page government reorganization bill. The bill is a priority of Governor Culver. The bill is SSB 3030.
The bill allows for triple damages against a person or entity making a false record or statement to get a false or fraudulent claim paid or approved. The language also allows for a process for the attorney general to investigate and bring civil actions. It is aimed at Medicaid providers.
The bill is expected to be debated in the Senate State Government Committee next week.
